Cambridge Women complete incredible comeback in 4-3 win over Unionville

Cambridge, ON – Cambridge United (W) pulled off a stunning second-half turnaround to defeat Unionville Milliken SC 4-3 on home turf. After a slow, disjointed opening half that saw them fall behind by three goals, Cambridge dominated the final 35 minutes, scoring four unanswered goals to secure a memorable victory.

First Half
The match began with a tough, disjointed opening spell for the hosts as Unionville Milliken SC capitalized on their opportunities. Unionville's first goal came courtesy of a free kick from outside the box by Jessica Hill in the 30th minute. Moments later, a controversial penalty kick was awarded to the visitors, with Cambridge's Cassidy Derry assessed a yellow card. Unionville's Jessica Giordanella stepped up to convert the penalty and put Cambridge down 2-0.
Looking to spark a change, Cambridge made an early tactical substitution in the 39th minute, bringing on Kyra Chan for Abigail White.
Second Half
The hill got steeper for Cambridge early in the second half when Unionville’s Edward found the back of the net in the 54th minute, extending the visitors' lead to 3-0.
Conceding the third goal proved to be the turning point. Cambridge completely flipped the script and began to dictate the tempo. Molly Owen made way for Anastasia Kraja in the 57th minute, immediately adding to the home side’s offensive pressure.
The comeback kicked off in the 58th minute when Allison Beaumont scored to make it 3-1. Only six minutes later, Annick Lariviere struck in the 64th minute to trim the deficit to just one goal.
Fresh legs were introduced, with Cambridge’s Kay-Lynn McCall coming in for Derry in the 71st minute and the relentless pressure continued into the final quarter-hour.
In the 77th minute, Sydney Taylor scored the crucial equalizer to bring the game to 3-3. With the momentum entirely on their side, Cambridge completed the dramatic turnaround in the 80th minute as Beaumont netted her second of the match, sealing a magnificent 4-3 comeback victory. Her night would end shortly after, making way for Shenasia Richards in the 85th minute as Cambridge pushed to manage the time remaining and secure their hard-fought three points.
