Pushing to secure the second place spot in the division and a shot at playoffs,

were unable to secure a clean sheet, they would easily secure a 7-1 win to earn
three points at home.

First Half
Cambridge found their offensive pressure early into the match off of a long ball over
the top by Cassidy Derry to find Jordan Lunshof’s cutting through and in behind
Burlington’s back line. The visitor’s centre-back did well to outpace her and fend off
the threat, but Ava Fraga would open the scoring for the home team moments later.
On the build for Cambridge, Molly Owen neatly beat her defender to play a long ball
down the left flank to find Fraga. Fraga beat three defenders along the end line and
tucked it far side past the Burlington goalkeeper, making it 1-0 for Cambridge in the
5th minute.
Her teammate at Brock University, Katie Halley, also found the back of the net
moments later in the 10th minute, her tap in off of the short corner giving Cambridge
the early 2-0 lead.
Burlington would find a spark on a quick transition to bring the score to 2-1, but
Lunshof would extinguish any mounting hope for the visitors. Owen sent another
great long ball, this time down the right flank to Halley—the latter squaring it across
to Lunshof who put it past the keeper in the 27th minute to bring Cambridge’s lead to
three.
Anastasia Kraja picked up a yellow in the 34th minute in response to Burlington’s
increasingly reckless play as Cambridge continued to dominate the game.
Megan Heyes would send a beautiful ball into Burlington’s box off of a freekick,
Lunshof getting the initial touch and setting it for Cassidy Derry who would poke it
past the keeper to bring the score to 4-1 for Cambridge with 37 minutes on the clock.
Megan Voutour would replace Kraja in the 37th minute and found the back of the net
immediately on another perfect delivery from Heyes on a free kick.
Not even five minutes later, she scored again, this time Hayley Mackie angling a
through ball in to Lunshof who drew the goalkeeper out before passing it off to
Voutour who scored on the easy tap-in to extend her team’s lead to 6-1.
Cambridge concluded their dominant first half with six goals to show for the half.
Second Half
Cambridge goalkeeper Shae Mitchell made way for Makayla Townes, making her
season debut for the women’s first team.
Voutour picked up right where she left off, securing her hat trick in the 49th minute,
once again connecting with Heyes off of a free kick.
In control of the game with a comfortable 7-1 lead, the home side introduced fresh
legs, Annick Lariviere replacing Halley and Kay-Lynn McCall replacing Hayley
Mackie in the 60th minute.
Cassidy Hunt and Tayler Schade came in for Jordan Lunshof and Molly Owen,
Cambridge remaining in command as Burlington became increasingly desperate.
As the visiting team’s emotions flared their coach was ejected, the final nail in
Burlington’s coffin as Cambridge defeated them 7-1.
