June 25, 2026
CAMBRIDGE, ON – Cambridge United Women fell 3-0 to Tecumseh United on Wednesday night at Fountain Street Soccer Complex. Despite controlling possession and creating numerous scoring chances, the hosts were undone by three early goals conceded off set pieces.
Cambridge entered the match facing a goalkeeper shortage, with first-team keepers Shae Mitchell and Bronya Obelnicki both out due to injuries. Cambridge Women’s OPL3 goalkeeper Zoe Brown stepped up to start the match. Tecumseh scored three quick goals off failed set-piece clearances early in the first half to secure a 3-0 victory. While an extremely dominant Cambridge side spent the rest of the match in possession and generated a multitude of chances, they were unable to break the visitors deep defensive block.

Tecumseh opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when Autumn Allen converted following a failed defensive clearance on a set piece. Allen scored a second goal under similar circumstances in the 7th minute to extend the visitors' lead to 2-0.
Cambridge maintained the majority of possession and generated fluid build-up play, but Tecumseh added a third goal in the 38th minute—once again on an uncleared set piece.
Just prior to the third goal, Cambridge defender Mary Elizabeth DiFonzo received a yellow card in the 37th minute.
Second Half
Cambridge head coach Neil Wilson made an attacking adjustment at halftime, substituting Sophia Morgan on for Anastasia Kraja. For the remainder of the match, Tecumseh shifted into a deep defensive block to protect their lead.
Cambridge dominated possession throughout the final 45 minutes, pinning Tecumseh into their own half and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Wilson utilized his bench heavily, introducing Shenasia Richards, Genevieve Morgan, Molly Owen, and Kyra Chan to sustain the pressure.
Despite the high volume of chances, Cambridge was unable to break through Tecumseh's defensive lines and goalkeeper. Cambridge midfielder Sami Falkenstein received a yellow card in the 82nd minute to halt a rare Tecumseh counter-attack before the match concluded 3-0.
The women will be back in action this Saturday, June 27 as they take on Unionville at Fountain Street Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
