Oakville, ON – Cambridge United’s Women’s OPL2 squad suffered a tough 3-0 defeat against Oakville SC on Wednesday night at Pine Glen Soccer Park. In a matchup heavily dictated by an early first-half offensive burst from the hosts, Cambridge fought hard but struggled to break through a disciplined Oakville structure.

First Half
The opening 45 minutes proved difficult for Cambridge as the hosts took control of the tempo early on. Oakville SC broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Nassima Benmessaoud found the back of the net, and they quickly doubled their lead just three minutes later through a 23rd-minute strike by Cassidy Jaycock.
Oakville's Felicia Ferro received a yellow card in the 14th minute and Cambridge's Anastasia Kraja picked up a caution in the 44th minute. The teams headed into halftime with Oakville leading 2-0.
Second Half
Looking for a tactical spark, Neil Wilson’s side made a trio of halftime adjustments, bringing on Sami Falkenstein and Juliette Mann. Despite the fresh energy, the physical battle continued into the second half.
Cambridge's Katie Halley was cautioned with a yellow card in the 48th minute, while Oakville's Abi Russell also entered the referee's book.
Further squad rotations followed for Cambridge as Shenasia Richards, Genevieve Morgan, Kyra Chan, Molly Owen, and Sophia Morgan entered the pitch.
Oakville remained stubborn defensively, picking up an 81st-minute booking via Megan Austin. In stoppage time, Austin put the game completely out of reach, scoring in the 91st minute to seal the 3-0 result.
