Beaumont Brace Propels Cambridge Women Past Hamilton

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Cambridge United (W) fought off a highly competitive opponent to capture a thrilling 2-1 victory over Hamilton United on Saturday night. An exceptional brace from Allison Beaumont proved to be the difference maker at home as Cambridge outlasted a tough, well-organized Hamilton side in a high-intensity, physical matchup.
Marked by heavy tackles, a high volume of disciplinary actions, and true display of determination and grit from both sides, Cambridge dug deep. Despite the rising temperature of the game and second-half pressure from the visitors, backed by a highlight-reel defensive display and timely clinical finishing, the hosts successfully defended their home turf to secure all three points.

First Half
The tone for a rough match was established almost immediately. Just 4 minutes into the contest, Cambridge's Anastasia Kraja was shown a yellow card.
Cambridge found their rhythm through the tension in the 12th minute when Allison Beaumont struck the opening goal off of a gritty offensive effort by Kate Halley to put the hosts up 1-0.
Hamilton's physical approach cost them in the 28th minute when Rebekah Lee picked up a caution from the referee.
Second Half
Shenasia Richards came in for Cassidy Derry to start the second period of play.
The physical battles boiling over all evening reached a breaking point in the 65th minute. An aggressive exchange exploded into a near-fight on the pitch involving Halley and two Hamilton players. The official issued yellow cards to both Halley and Hamilton's Cassandra Campane for the exchange.
Spurred on by the intense emotions of the match, Cambridge immediately pushed forward. In the 66th minute, just a minute after the altercation, Allison Beaumont delivered her second goal of the night, extending the lead to 2-0.
Hamilton refused to back down and immediately mounted heavy counter-pressure, executing a tactical change by bringing on Sofia Mammoliti for Campane. With the visitors piling on, Cambridge goalkeeper Shae Mitchell came up with a spectacular, gutsy highlight-reel save to deny the visitors and preserve the slim 2-0 cushion.
Unfortunately, Hamilton’s efforts paid off in the 70th minute when substitute Briana Henry scored to cut Cambridge's lead to 2-1. Following the concession, the Cambridge back line completely bared down, absorbing wave after wave of Hamilton attacks.
Wilson substituted Halley for Kyra Chan in the 73rd minute to revive the energy on the press. Cambridge’s Cylie Monteiro was brought in for Kraja in the 87th minute to effectively drain the remaining clock and secure the gritty 2-1 win for the home side.
