3-goal night for Lariviere vaults United Women into second place

June 9, 2026

UNIONVILLE, ON – Cambridge United (W) pulled off a massive second-half surge on Tuesday night, defeating Unionville Milliken SC 6-2 at Bill Crothers Secondary School. The victory collects three crucial points on the road to jump the squad into second place.

A standout performance by Annick Lariviere saw the visitors capitalize three times in rapid succession to complete a brilliant hat trick in the second half. While Unionville attempted to fight their way back into the contest, Cambridge's bench depth and late offensive wave completely stalled the hosts' momentum. Bronya Obelnicki, in for injured regular starting goalkeeper Shae Mitchell, stepped up in her season debut to lock down the win for the visiting side. A late scoring sequence officially sealed the decisive win and vaulted the traveling side up the league standings.

First Half

Unionville Milliken shocked the visitors by opening the scoring in the 37th minute, when Olivia Allen found the back of the net on a defensive error to establish an early 1-0 advantage.

Before the home side could take a lead into the break, Cambridge struck back. In the 43rd minute, Sydney Taylor finished cleanly to equalize and bring the scoreline to 1-1.

Second Half

Cambridge brought on Molly Owen for Cassidy Derry and Sami Falkenstein for Anastasia Kraja to begin the half. A change in formation paid dividends immediately as Annick Lariviere found the back of the net in the 48th minute to give Cambridge a 2-1 lead.

Before Unionville Milliken could properly regroup, the visitors struck again. In the 50th minute, Lariviere hit her second of the night to double the cushion to 3-1.

The hosts found a lifeline in the 69th minute when Ines Delhomelle found space and scored to cut the deficit to 3-2. However, Lariviere responded instantly to complete her hat trick, burying an answering goal in the 71st minute to restore the two-goal lead of 4-2.

Shenasia Richards came on for Beaumont in the 72nd minute, and Kyra Chan was introduced for Katie Halley in the 76th minute just after Halley struck a 75th-minute goal to push the lead to 5-2.

With Unionville breaking down late under persistent pressure, Cambridge forced a final mistake. In the 89th minute, a Unionville own goal by Vanessa Allen made it 6-2.

With three points secured on the night, Cambridge moved into second place in the Women’s OPL 2 table.
