United Men Secure Crucial Three Points At Home Against North Mississauga

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Cambridge United (M) put on a decisive performance at Fountain Street Soccer Complex, defeating North Mississauga SC 3-1.


Cambridge controlled the pace of the match early, breaking through before the half-hour mark to head into the locker room with the advantage. North Mississauga pushed back with an equalizer midway through the second half, but United responded instantly. A brilliant defensive shift coupled with clinical finishing in the final fifteen minutes saw Cambridge retake the lead and add an insurance goal to comfortably lock down all three points on home turf.

First Half

Playing in front of a home crowd, Cambridge established possession early, pressuring the North Mississauga backline and disrupting their build-up play.


The home side’s defensive unit remained highly organized throughout the opening stages, neutralizing North Mississauga's forwards and keeping opportunities away from keeper Jacob Findlay.


The pressure paid off in the 29th minute when captain Nikolas Antolcic found an opening and slotted the ball home to give Cambridge United a 1-0 lead.


North Mississauga attempted to adjust just before the break, making a double tactical substitution in stoppage time by bringing on Matteo Galati and Erik Selvaggi. However, United maintained defensive control to finish the half ahead.

Second Half

Cambridge went to their bench just past the hour mark, executing a double substitution in the 61st minute as Christian Ferraro and Ricardo Alvarado entered the pitch.

North Mississauga managed to pull level in the 65th minute through a goal by Cristiano Candelaria, making it 1-1. In response, United brought on Landon Paton and Noah Medeiros in the 68th minute to refresh the midfield and wide areas. Tensions grew shortly after, resulting in a 71st-minute yellow card for Cambridge's Christian Ferraro.

The home side shifted into high gear late in the half. In the 79th minute, Kyler Monterroso retook the lead for his home side, putting Cambridge up 2-1. To ensure the victory, Nikolas Antolcic stepped up again in the 87th minute, scoring his second goal of the night to secure the 3-1 win before stoppage time.
