First Half

Who else but Christian Ferraro to open the scoring for Cambridge. In the 19th

minute, Roma would give it away up the middle to Cambridge’s Kaven

Thamilventhan who played it through to Landon Paton in the left half space. Paton

squared it on his first touch for Ferraro who neatly tucked it in to put his side up 1-0.

Paton found the back of the net to put Cambridge up 2-0 in the 23rd minute off a

cross into the left post area, managing to poke it past the keeper.

Matthew Ciavarro picked up a caution in the 29th minute, but Cambridge held on to

their 2-0 lead at the culmination of the first half of play and looked well in control of

the game.

Second Half

Ferraro once again opened the scoring, to put the home side up 3-0 in the 49th

minute. Matteo Grant drove down the left flank after being taken down and regained

his feet quickly to take the ball all the way into the opposition's box where he played

it into Ferraro who completed the play with a fancy finish.

Ciavarro would follow it up in the 56th minute, Thamilventhan slotting a perfect

through ball in between two Roma defenders in stride of Ciavarro. The latter didn’t

waste a second, tucking it near post on the first touch to grant Cambridge a 4-0 lead.

Calum Heimbecker entered the field for Saab Kohar in the 57th minute.

Cambridge would hold on comfortably to their 4-0 lead, Ferraro coming out for Luca

Romano and Alex Amaral making way for Gregor McKeon in the 71st minute along

with Denilson Clamp who replaced Jon Elezi.

Head coach Jon Morgan was given a caution along with the opposition's gaffer in the

75th minute.

Ciavarro found his second goal in the 76th minute, this time on the receiving end of a

cross cut back from the right side by McKeon to put the score 5-0 in the home side’s

favour.

Tristan Greenidge stepped in for Patrick Brousseau in the 79th minute and Harjas

Sran came on for Paton.

Denilson Clamp sealed the 6-0 victory for Cambridge in the 85th minute. Sran had

an immediate impact, fresh legs winning out over a tired Roma defense to regain

possession and transition to attack. Sran played it in for Clamp who took a touch to

his left before placing it in the upper right corner from long range.

Kaven Thamilventhan would make way for Luka Zivkovic in the 87th minute and

Cambridge managed the clock to secure the 6-0 win to grant themselves the

Southwest division title and clinch their first seed spot in the League 2 Men’s

playoffs.
