HAMILTON, ON. – Cambridge United (M) capitalized beautifully on an early red card to secure a commanding 4-1 road victory against Hamilton United at Ron Joyce Stadium.
The momentum of the match changed completely within the opening 20 minutes when Hamilton United's starting goalkeeper was sent off for a handling infraction outside his penalty area. Down a man, Hamilton fought to pull level just before halftime. However, Cambridge's tactical adjustments and squad depth proved overwhelming in the second half. Fueled by an impactful multi-goal performance off the bench, the visitors picked apart the ten-man hosts to comfortably secure all three points.

First Half
The game's defining moment arrived in the 19th minute as seen in the match timeline. Hamilton United goalkeeper Connor Miller rushed off his line and handled the ball outside the 18-yard box to deny a clear goal-scoring opportunity, earning a straight red card and leaving his team down to 10 men.
Hamilton immediately adjusted, bringing on goalkeeper Cole Savage to replace outfield player Ferdinand Lokole.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 39th minute. Ricardo Alvarado broke through one-on-one with Savage and calmly slotted the ball home to give Cambridge United a 1-0 lead.
Despite the disadvantage, Hamilton United responded right before the break. In the 43rd minute, Fadell Sore picked up the ball, opened up onto his left foot, and rifled it into the top left corner to equalize at 1-1.
Second Half
Cambridge made quick personnel changes, including bringing on Noah Medeiros for Matteo Grant to start the second half. Sideline tensions also flared early in the half as Hamilton Assistant Coach Lucas Birnstingl was shown a yellow card in the 51st minute.
The substitution paid off perfectly in the 58th minute. Medeiros picked up the ball, cut onto his right foot, and calmly slotted it into the bottom corner to restore Cambridge’s lead at 2-1.
As the physical toll of playing a man down mounted, Hamilton picked up quick bookings, with Mujtaba Ameen cautioned in the 69th minute and Noah Del Vecchio in the 73rd minute. Olutosin Akinwumi was also booked late in the match in the 83rd minute.
Medeiros extended the lead to 3-1 in the 73rd minute, finding himself in space and finishing clinically to find the back of the net for his second goal of the match. Just three minutes later, in the 76th minute, substitute Jon Elezi picked up the ball, opened up, and finished with confidence into the corner to put the game completely out of reach at 4-1.
Cambridge managed the remaining minutes smoothly, utilizing late substitutions in the 84th minute to bring on Christian Ferraro and Kyler Monterroso.
