Medeiros with the brace in decisive 5-2 victory over Windsor City FC

Cambridge, ON – The men’s OPL 2 side bounced back in spectacular fashion on home turf against Windsor City FC.

Three early goals propelled Cambridge over the visitors and set the tone for the rest of the match, with the hosts leading 4-1 at the break. Windsor came within two in the second, but Medeiros completed his brace to seal the victory 5-2 in front of the home crowd.

First Half

Determined to set the tone early on home turf, Cambridge hit the ground running with an early offensive onslaught. 

Noah Medeiros opened the scoring just two minutes into the match to put the hosts ahead 1-0. Evan Antolic doubled the lead, finding the back of the net in the 15th minute.

With all the momentum in Cambridge’s favour, Windsor struggled to get anything going. Cambridge’s offensive pressure continued to bear down, forcing a penalty kick in the 23’ minute that Cambridge’s Kyler Monterroso would convert to increase their lead to three inside the opening half hour.

Windsor made tactical adjustments late in the half, but Cambridge showed no signs of slowing, with Matthew Ciavarro putting the hosts up 4-0 in the 37th minute.

Though the visitors’ Ciaran O’Connor managed to net one before the culmination of the first half, Cambridge would head into the break with a commanding 4-1 lead.

Second Half

Windsor’s O’Connor netted his second of the match in the 46th minute, generating a semblance of hope for the visitors making it 4-2. However, Cambridge shut down any hope of the comeback as Medeiros would also find his second goal of the match, completing his brace and extending the cushion to 5-2 in the 49th minute.

From there on Cambridge commanded the game, utilizing the bench to effectively outlast the remaining time and secure a decisive three points in front of their home crowd.
