First Half
The opening 45 minutes proved to be a highly physical and contested affair, with both teams fighting hard to establish control of the midfield. Cambridge's aggression resulted in early bookings, as captain Nikolas Antolcic was shown a yellow card in the 25th minute, followed by Kyler Monterroso in the 37th minute.
Despite several build-up sequences, neither side could break the deadlock before the whistle, sending the teams into halftime locked at 0-0. Looking for an offensive spark, Head Coach Jon Morgan made a double substitution at the break, bringing on Landon Paton and Christian Ferraro for Monterroso and Matthew Ciavarro.
Second Half
The tactical adjustments paid dividends immediately as the floodgates opened wide in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Luca Romano broke the deadlock to make it 1-0, picking up a yellow card in the aftermath.
Cambridge quickly doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Nikolas Antolcic found the back of the net. Morgan immediately refreshed his ranks, subbing on Ank Nibogora for Romano, followed by Noah Medeiros for Elliott Dell in the 67th minute.
The dominance continued as substitute Christian Ferraro got on the scoresheet in the 72nd minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Just five minutes later, Nikolas Antolcic struck again to secure his brace and make it 4-0.
With the game firmly in hand, the captain was subbed off for Alex Amaral in the 80th minute, and Marko Lesic replaced Ferraro in the 84th minute. The final exclamation point came in the 88th minute when Ank Nibogora buried Cambridge's fifth goal of the evening, putting the finishing touches on a flawless 5-0 victory.
